Herschell (Hirschel), Solomon

(1762-1842)
   English rabbi. He was born in London. He served as a rabbi in Prussia, then in 1802 became rabbi of the Great Synagogue in London. He was recognized as chief rabbi by the Ashkenazi communities throughout Britain.
